Trying to get back into a creative state of mind after stepping away from it for a long while can be difficult. I’ve been wanting to get back into pen and paper or table-top roleplaying games again for a while now, more specifically as a game master, but when tasked with getting everything together for such a game I’ve been getting discouraged and distracted and as a result less than satisfied with the things I’ve come up with. So taking small steps and been looking at some existing campaigns and adventure paths and I’m doing PonyFinder campaign for a small group of players.
PonyFinder, developed by Silver Games LLC, is a campaign setting for Pathfinder and D&D that emulates the world of My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic. Players are free to take on their own original characters from among the traditional races of the systems and those from the genre including, ponies, pegasus, unicorns, gryphons, hippogriffs, dragons, suncats, kirin, doppelgangers (changlings), and many many more.
So far I’ve run two sessions of this game every other Sunday and the group seems to be doing well together. I’m glad I’ve been able to get this game started and it has very much helped inspire thoughts for other things. In the coming sessions a new player will be introduced and hopefully I can return to working on larger original stories again.
